Home blood pressure checks without panic
Home monitors help many people track readings between clinic visits. Sit quietly for a few minutes, feet flat, back supported, cuff on bare upper arm at heart level. Take two readings a minute apart and write both down with the time and date.
Avoid caffeine, exercise, and stressful conversations right before measuring when possible. Share patterns — not single scary numbers — with your clinician unless you have symptoms that need urgent care.
A home monitor does not diagnose conditions and is not a substitute for professional evaluation. Seek emergency care for severe symptoms such as chest pain, sudden weakness, or trouble speaking.
