Building a calm evening ritual

Evenings set the tone for how rested a household feels. A calm ritual is less about perfection and more about repeating a few gentle cues that tell your body the day is closing.

Dim brighter overhead lights an hour before bed, put phones on a charger outside the bedroom if you can, and choose one sensory anchor — herbal tea, a warm shower, or quiet stretching. Keep the sequence short so it survives busy weeks.

If you share a home with children or aging parents, invite them into a simplified version: the same playlist, the same five-minute tidy, the same lights-out window. Consistency beats intensity.
